Docky 1.0.6 Your clipboard, automatically within reach

Automatic local clipboard history

  • Supported clipboard changes are captured automatically while Docky runs. Capture is on by default and can be paused in Clipboard settings; no Save clipboard button is needed.
  • New captures and restored history are limited to 15 unique entries and 30 MB total. The oldest item is removed when full.
  • Click an item to copy it and move it to the top. Re-copying the same content from another app promotes the existing item without duplicates.
  • Finder file/folder copies retain native file references so they can be copied back into other apps; original files stay in place.
  • Clipboard Quick Action opens history. The shelf shows its count out of 15; individual removal, clear-all, and expiry controls remain available.

Privacy & capture limits

Docky ignores its own clipboard writes and skips content marked concealed, transient, or automatically generated. Automatic capture pauses while locked or macOS Secure Input is active. These exclusions depend on the clipboard markers supplied by other apps; they are not a promise to recognize every sensitive item.

Updating

Open Docky → Updates → Check for Updates, or use the menu-bar action. Versions 1.0 and 1.0.1 need a one-time manual installation. Updates restart Docky and clear the temporary file shelf and focus session; saved clipboard history follows your retention setting.

Validation

Debug/universal Release builds and isolated native pasteboard checks cover text/file round-trips, concealed-content exclusion, own-write tracking, duplicate promotion, restored-history deduplication, expiry, and 15-item eviction. Tests do not inspect the user’s general clipboard. Signing, notarization, and hosted installer verification passed. Cross-app clipboard monitoring and row clicking still need interactive validation on target Macs. Existing native install/relaunch and lock-screen QA limits remain.

RELEASE · BUILD 6

Docky 1.0.5 Clipboard, quick actions & a little quiet

Local clipboard shelf

  • Explicitly save text, web links, images, and hex colours locally. Copy items back, remove individual items, or clear the shelf.
  • Choose one-hour, 24-hour, seven-day, or manual retention. Expired items are removed while Docky runs or on next launch.
  • Up to 40 items and 30 MB are kept; older items are removed when full. Clipboard content is never polled or uploaded.

Quick actions

  • Open from the menu bar or Control–Option–Space. Choose Control–Shift–Space if the default is unavailable; registration failures appear in settings.
  • Start/pause focus, add files, save clipboard content, toggle meeting mode, open a chosen favourite app, or run a named macOS Shortcut.
  • Clipboard and Actions tabs are available in the island and dedicated settings pages, with accessible icon labels and tooltips.

Meeting mode

Pause keyboard sounds (including previews), automatic hover opening, drag popups, and Docky alerts without changing feature preferences. Meeting mode ends when disabled or Docky quits; it does not record meetings, transcribe, or silence other applications.

To update, open Docky → Updates → Check for Updates. Versions 1.0 and 1.0.1 need a one-time manual installation. Updates restart Docky and clear the temporary file shelf and focus session; saved clipboard items follow their retention setting.

Validation

Debug/universal Release builds, clipboard classification, expiry, archive round-trip and limits, and existing shelf/display/interaction checks run before publication. Signing, notarization, and hosted installer verification passed. Global shortcut conflicts, macOS Shortcuts execution, and the complete clipboard UI still need hands-on checks on target Macs. Full updater installation/relaunch and lock-screen behavior across supported configurations remain unverified.

RELEASE · BUILD 5

Docky 1.0.4 A steadier island. A clearer shelf.

File shelf

  • Supported shelf files now show native macOS thumbnails.
  • Preview with the eye button, or click a file’s name and press Space for Quick Look.
  • The island stays open during imports, outgoing drags, file selection, and Quick Look.
  • Import results remain visible in the shelf even when island alerts are disabled.

Island behavior

  • Choose instant, short, relaxed, or deliberate hover opening in Appearance.
  • Click the island header to pin it open. Click again or use the close control to collapse; Escape closes it when the island has keyboard focus.

Permissions & settings

  • A new Permissions page brings Accessibility, keyboard listening, notification access, and live feature status together with macOS settings shortcuts.
  • Permission checks do not request access automatically.
  • Settings navigation scrolls to keep every section accessible.

Updating

Open Docky → Updates → Check for Updates, or use the menu-bar action. Versions 1.0 and 1.0.1 need a one-time manual installation. Automatic checks are optional and initially off. Updates restart Docky and clear the temporary file shelf and focus session.

Validation

Native behavior checks cover file pasteboards, display placement, and collapse-blocking interactions. Builds, universal Release packaging, signing, and notarization passed; publishing now runs behavior checks before packaging. Real Finder dragging, Quick Look keyboard focus, permission changes in System Settings, and lock-screen behavior still require interactive validation on target Macs. Full update installation/relaunch across supported configurations remains unverified.

RELEASE · BUILD 4

Docky 1.0.3 A better target for your files

Improved

  • A dedicated file-drop card appears below the menu bar when a file drag begins, giving you a target away from the screen’s top edge.
  • Native AppKit file-drop handling replaces the island’s SwiftUI item-provider receiver.
  • Native and legacy Finder file/folder pasteboards are supported, with duplicate references removed.
  • The drop card disappears after the drag and is disabled while Docky is hidden or the screen is locked.

Updating

From an updater-enabled installation, open Docky → Updates → Check for Updates. On 1.0 or 1.0.1, download and install the current version manually once. Updating restarts Docky and clears the temporary file shelf and focus session.

Validation

Native file-drop tests passed; the installer is signed and notarized. Actual Finder dragging still needs confirmation on your Mac. Lock-screen compatibility and full update installation/relaunch across supported configurations remain unverified.

  • Check for Updates in Docky’s menu-bar menu.
  • Sparkle-based archive verification, release notes, installation, and relaunch.

Docky 1.0.1 File shelf improvements

No public release date or installer available for this version. These changes are included in 1.0.2.

  • Native file/folder references improve transfers to Finder and other apps.
  • Separate drag handles reduce conflicts with Open, Reveal, and Remove controls.
  • Improved filenames with spaces and accented characters, ordered multi-file imports, progress, and failed-import reporting.

Original files stay in place; dragging out offers a copy operation.
